Battery-Grade Lithium Carbonate Falls Below Key Cost Line of 80,000 CNY

According to the latest data released by Shanghai Steel Union on August 7, the average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate has dropped to 80,000 CNY per ton. On August 2, the average price fell even further to 79,500 CNY per ton, marking the first time it has fallen below the 80,000 CNY threshold. This year, after experiencing fluctuations in the first quarter, the price of battery-grade lithium carbonate stabilized around 110,000 CNY per ton starting in April. However, from mid-May onwards, the price began a persistent decline and soon fell below 100,000 CNY per ton. As August began, the downward trend continued unabated, approaching the critical cost line of 80,000 CNY. As of the close of trading on August 7, shares of lithium battery companies such as Tianqi Lithium, Ganfeng Lithium, and Shengxin Lithium Energy all exhibited a downward trend.
